Ashford is a small, unspoilt and friendly village in the centre of the Limestone Peak, adjacent to the River Wye.
Two Olde-worlde Public Houses, a superb and widely renowned restaurant, Grocery and delicatessen shop and a first class café – Aisseford – all combine to supply the needs of the villagers and visitors. Ashford is an ideal base for touring the Peak District. The stately homes of Chatsworth, Haddon and Hardwick are all within easy reach.
The famous market town of Bakewell resides two miles down the river, market day is on a Monday, carry on along the river to the towns of Matlock and Matlock Bath.
Ann and Stuart are both locals, Stuart was born in the village and Ann comes from Tideswell, famous for its Church – The Cathedral-of-the-Peak. Both Ann and Stuart are very helpful and full of local knowledge.
Stuart and Ann built this lovely split level home back in the early 1960’s. They bought a derelict cottage on the land which was to be replaced three years later with Chy-an-Dour. The name originates from Cornwall and means “House by the Water”
